KOGI State GOV TRIBUNAL: Wada hopeful of winning

By Solomom Okpere LOKOJA—Former governor of Kogi State, Capt Idris Wada has expressed hope of victory at the Election Petition Tribunal, saying he believes the tribunal will ‘right the wrong’ of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, proclamation. Wada, who spoke yesterday in Lokoja at the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders’ meeting, said what happened to the party at the last year governorship election was an ‘accident’ but the party was now recuperating. According to him: “I believe strongly that the Tribunal will vindicate me. I worked hard during the campaign and I meant well for the state during my first time. I adequately sold our programme for the future to the state and I saw us winning the election. But what happened during the election is best known to God. However I am sure that the Tribunal will do the right thing. All that is left is a matter of time.” Wada, who eulogized the state executive of the party for keeping the party together, urged members to stay together and help each other. “At present, PDP is going through a lot of challenges but we must remained determined, focus and prayerful and victory will soon come. What happened at the last year election was an accident but I urged members to assist each other until the accident corrected.”
