Abductors kill corps members after the collection of N1.5m ransom

THE Department of State Security, DSS, in Rivers
State has arrested five suspects allegedly behind
the abduction and murder of a National Youth
Service Corps (NYSC) member, Mr Sampson
Worlu.
The suspects, who allegedly murdered the hostage
after being paid a ransom of N1.5 million for his
release, are already facing charges at a magistrate
court in Port Harcourt.
They reportedly disappeared after the abduction
and collection of ransom until they were tracked by
men of the DSS.
Charles Worlu, a brother of the deceased hostage,
said all the family wanted was justice. He said the
kidnappers made the family pay them ransom
twice, the first being one million naira and the
second time, five hundred thousand naira and still
murdered the hostage.
The corps member was serving in Imo State before
his abduction at Rumuokoro roundabout in Obio
Akpor local government area of Rivers State. A
lawyer, he was called to the Bar on October 2015.
